The recent conflict between Russia and Ukraine has spectators from all over the world hoping that the tragic events will not lead to WWIII. But in a matter of days, Russia has already captured the infamous Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, U.S. President Biden has given NATO countries his approval to send fighter jets to Ukraine, and Senator Lindsey Graham has implied that Russians should step up to the plate and assassinate their President, Vladimir Putin.

The latter occurrence seemed to garner the most controversy stateside so when the Republican senator was approached earlier today at the Reagan National Airport in D.C., with the chance to retract his shocking statement, he did the opposite. Instead, the 66-year-old from South Carolina doubled down on his dangerous viewpoint.

"I think most Americans understand that Putin is a war criminal," Graham said to TMZ. "The sooner he's gone, the better. The only way that this ends in a sustainable fashion is for the Russian people to take him out. I'm not asking for American boots on the ground but I want to help Ukraine with military equipment [and] with assistance. But Putin's gotten away with murder for 20 years. Enough is enough, he's got to go."

The Senator also shared his thoughts on Brittney Griner's current predicament in a Russian jail, saying that he fears for her safety and any other American citizen who is currently visiting or living in Europe's largest country.
