Update 03/05/2022 2:53am:

After reports initially surfaced that Snoop's new deal to acquire Death Row Records doesn't come with the masters for albums done by 2Pac and Dr. Dre under the label. While talking to Elliott Wilson for TIDAL, Snoop said he doesn't have the masters for Pac, but revealed things are a bit different with regard to Dr. Dre.

"As far as 2Pac’s masters, 2Pac’s masters came back to him last year. But I got a great relationship with his estate, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to be able to work something out […] to continue some Death Row 2Pac business now that Snoop Dogg is in control of Death Row," he said. "Same with Dr. Dre and The Chronic. I got The Chronic album. I got Doggystyle, Tha Doggfather, Murder Was the Case, Dogg Food, Above the Rim. I got all those records."

in addition to reviving the original Death Row catalog, Snoop is also looking to expand the scope of the label's musical output to include EDM and Latin markets.

"These genres are gigantic. So to be able to take Death Row music into those types of collaborations, it’s interesting. I may explore that," he said. "International vibes. And I know what Death Row means to the globe."

The Hip Hop community was pleased to learn Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records earlier this month. As one of the label's original and most-recognized acts, it was a full-circle moment that was met with congratulatory praise. However, a new report claims the acquisition is not without its limitations.

Snoop's Death Row deal reportedly will not include albums by arguably the biggest stars from the label. According to Billboard, 2Pac is no longer an official Death Row artist so All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: 7 Day Theory are not a part of the deal. In addition, Dr. Dre's The Chronic is not included but that album is expected to return to the Death Row catalog next year.

Death Row's catalog currently remains under MNRK Music and Blackstone's ownership. The deal for Death Row's music is still being negotiated. Most recently, Snoop Dogg released his new album, B.O.D.R. (Back on Death Row), on Feb. 11.
