Update 02/28/2022 8:16pm:

According to reports, the man charged with the murder of former NYC drug kingpin Alpo Martinez, Shakeem Parker, harbored a grudge with Alpo over a road rage incident that happened months before the killing. Martinez, who was known for his reckless driving, hit Parker while he was on his motorcycle. Needless to say, the incident left Parker seething. On the night of the murder, authorities say Parker was walking when he saw Alpo's red Ram pickup.

The New York Daily News reports that after attending a party near the scene, "Parker, who is known as “Boonkie,” visited a deli in Harlem at 2:49 a.m., where he met up with his brother. He was captured on surveillance video chatting with friends before happening to notice Martinez driving by in the truck, the source said."

A source close to the situation said “there’s no indication that this was anything other than a crime of opportunity.” For many, the somewhat benign reasoning behind Alpo's murder can be considered "disappointing" for all the lore around the former kingpin's name.

Cops were able to rule out drugs as a motive after tracking Parker's movements before the shooting.

According to the NY Daily News, Shakeem Parker, 27, of W. 149th St, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the murder of former Harlem kingpin-turned-informant Alberto "Alpo" Martinez (pictured above) on October 31.

Parker was already in custody at Rikers Island for a separate gun case, and detectives reportedly gathered information that supported Parker as the shooter. No further information regarding Parker's arrest, including a mugshot, has been released to the public.
