Ben Simmons has been back in the headlines after the former 76er was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster deal for James Harden. Simmons talked to the media in his first appearance as a player for the Brooklyn Nets and addressed those who are skeptical of his mental health dealings.

Simmons went on to say, “They should be happy I’m smiling. I’ve had some dark times over the last six months.” The player spoke about the end of his time on the Philadelphia 76ers, saying, “It was just piled up ... to where I just knew I wasn't myself and I needed to get back into that place ... being happy as a person.” Simmons then went on to say his mental health had nothing to do with being traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Simmons said, “it’s a blessing to be in an organization like this.” Watch above.
