U.S. track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson took to Twitter to react to the  Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision allowing Russian figure skating star Kamila Valieva to continue to compete in the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games despite testing positive for a banned substance in December. The court stated that Valieva is a "protected person" due to her only being 15, and therefore has different rules than adult athletes.

After hearing the news, Richardson wrote on Twitter, "Can we get a solid answer on the difference of her situation and mines? My mother died and I can’t run and was also favored to place top 3. The only difference I see is I’m a black young lady."

Back in July, Richardson was suspended for 30 days when she tested positive for marijuana after winning the 100-meter race at the U.S. track and field trials. The suspension prevented her from competing in the 100 meters at the Olympics in Tokyo, where she was a frontrunner to win gold.

In her tweets, Sha'Carri stated that marijuana isn't performance-enhancing, and she added that the negativity surrounding her incident hurt her reputation in the public eye. Check out the tweets in full above.
