Barry Bonds is inarguably one of the greatest baseball players of all time, if not the greatest all-around player in the sport's history. However, the MLB's home run leader and 7x MVP will not be enshrined in the hall of fame after failing to receive the requisite 75% of the vote. This marked Bonds final chance at getting in and despite receiving a significant bump in votes, it wasn't enough to get him past the 3/4th threshold. Bonds, like many other marquee players from a generation ago are being punished for their participation in the steroid epidemic that ran through baseball during the late 1980s well into the early aughts.

Other notable players that didn't make it include Roger Clemens, arguably the greatest pitcher of his era, and Sammy Sosa. David Ortiz did make it past the threshold and will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. But many find it unfair that Ortiz, someone who has tested positive for PED (performance-enhancing drugs), made it to the Hall but Bonds, someone who never tested positive for PEDs, remains locked out.
