According to a report published by Hits Daily Double on Monday, an LP by Eminem ranked amongst the highest-selling albums of 2021. It comes as no surprise that the year-end list was spearheaded by a younger generation of rappers like Rod Wave, Doja Cat, and Polo G. But this appearance by Eminem, in particular, was a bit unexpected.

That's because Curtain Call: The Hits was released by the Detroit-based emcee nearly two decades ago. Back then, the greatest hits compilation reached number one on album charts in several countries and it featured classic bangers like "Lose Yourself" and "Guilty Conscience." But the fact that the project has remained on the charts since 2005 is an astonishing accomplishment for any recording artist.

This album has been certified 7X platinum, which is likely a testament to why many fans in the hip-hop space have been clamoring for the iconic rapper to face off against Jay-Z in a Verzuz battle ever since the CEO of Roc Nation made the following proclamation.

“Nobody can stand on that stage with me. I ain’t gonna lie. No disrespect, everyone is amazing and done what they done. But no one can stand on that stage with me."

There's still no word on whether or not the two rap icons will ever take the stage together in an epic battle. But if the dream bout ever does take place, Eminem will undoubtedly include music from Curtain Call: The Hits. An oldie that managed to become one of the best-selling albums of 2021.
