Remy Ma recently sat down with Big U for his Checc'n In podcast, where she spoke about writing her own music and being shocked when she came in the game and found out how many top rappers had ghostwriters. Later, Remy also spoke about why male and female rappers are afraid to collaborate with her.
Around the 30-minute mark, Remy explained, "'Cause my pen really go. They know. Nobody don't play with me. Even guys. People call me and they're like, 'You need to do some features.' No girl wants to be on a song with me. Especially if she up! She don't want Remy Ma on a song. They know what's gon' happen and the same thing goes for guys. A guy don't wanna call me to get on a song 'cause he knows what's gonna happen!"
Back in 2017, during her back-and-forth with Nicki Minaj, Remy defended herself against claims that her husband Papoose was ghostwriting for her. Remy stated, "You know what’s so crazy? N***as [say] Pap is writing for me. First of all, my husband is dumb nice… N***as ain’t never want to give him his props. Now, when n—as get 'Shethered,' now all of a sudden, he’s writing my rhymes? Who the f**k was writing my rhymes before I met him? I met Pap after 'Lean Back,' after 'Conceited,' after the 'Ante Up (Remix),' after all my mixtapes. Who was writing my sh*t then? Like, are you f**king dumb? And I'm bigger than you. It ain't about who’s bigger — it's about who’s better."
