Eddie Johnson, the former head of the Chicago Police Department, recently opened up about Jussie Smollett being found guilty of lying to police about being attacked.

Johnson spoke about investigating Smollett while working for the Chicago PD, and he pointed out several things that struck him as "odd" when police arrived at Smollett's apartment after he claimed he was attacked. Johnson said that it was strange that Jussie still had the noose around his neck in his home, and he also said that Jussie still having the Subway sandwich that he bought after his attack didn't fit what normally happens when people are attacked.

Johnson later added that he instructed the department to stay quiet about the investigation after the Osundairo brothers left Chicago and traveled to Nigeria after the attack because he wanted them to be questioned when they returned. He also revealed that Jussie would've been let off if he apologized for lying about the attack.

Johnson stated, "We would have been more than happy with just an apology at the end of all that we uncovered but for some reason, he just wanted to keep going down this road that he was actually a victim."
