Travis Scott sat down with Charlamagne Tha God to speak about the tragedy that unfolded at his Astroworld Festival earlier this year, and at the beginning, the "Goosebumps" rapper was asked about his intention for doing the interview.

Travis explained, "I don’t personally have an intention, I just feel like something happened and I feel like it’s just, I needed a way to kinda like communicate, you know? One, families are grieving. There’s fans that experienced something, there’s fans that came to the show. I’ve always been that person to always see things through with the people that share experiences with me. … I’ve been trying to just really figure things out."

Travis also explained that he didn't see fans in distress in the crowd, as he spoke about how difficult it was to see people in the crowd from his vantage point. Travis told Charlamagne, "It’s so crazy because I’m that artist too — anytime you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show. You want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. Anytime I could see anything like that, I did. I stopped it a couple times to just make sure everybody was OK. And I really just go off the fans’ energy as a collective — call and response. I just didn’t hear that."

During the sit-down, Travis also hit back at people criticizing him for encouraging crowds at his show to rage, which you can hear more about in the full interview above.
