LL Cool J is being honored in his native Queens with a statue that was recently put on display in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
The statue was created by Sherwin Banfield and features a bust of a Radio-era LL Cool J holding a boombox that has his cassette inside. LL reacted to the statue on Instagram, writing, "Anything is possible. Statue of me in Corona Park, Queens by the talented @sherwintheartist."
Various hip-hop legends reacted to the statue, including Big Daddy Kane, who wrote, "LISTEN…The legacy that this man built!!!!! Congrats @llcoolj Salute to GREATNESS!!!" Roxanne Shanté, Busta Rhymes, MC Ren, DJ EFN, MC Lyte, Grandmaster Caz, and LL's longtime DJ Z-Trip also showed love to LL. You can check out an up-close look of the statue above.
