On Monday (December 6), Jussie Smollett took the stand in his criminal trial, which Fox News’ Matt Finn reported live from the courtroom.
While taking the stand, Smollett testified that CNN's Don Lemon tipped him off about the Chicago Police not believing that he was beaten up in a racial and homophobic-fueled attack. Prosecutors have charged Smollett with six counts of disorderly conduct and he is also being accused of lying to the police officers about the incident. Police believe that Smollett paid brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo $3,5000 to stage the attack for public attention, which the "Empire" actor denies.
Don Lemon is now facing backlash, as he covered Smollett's testimony on CNN, but viewers are angry that he did not disclose his alleged role in the situation. He has yet to release a public statement amid the backlash.
