According to reports, controversial Congressional Representative Majorie Taylor Greene hopes to award Kyle Rittenhouse with Congress's highest honor - the Congressional Gold Medal.

Rep. Greene proposed the new measure on Tuesday. A summary of the bill said the measure is to “award a Congressional Gold Medal to Kyle H. Rittenhouse, who protected the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.”

The honor is designated “to express public gratitude for distinguished contributions, dramatize the virtues of patriotism, and perpetuate the remembrance of great events.” But for Rittenhouse to receive the award, the request would need to be co-sponsored by two-thirds in both chambers of Congress.

Surprisingly, Rittenhouse's lawyer isn't pleased about the attention his client is getting and how it is being weaponized by Republican lawmakers to curry favor from their conservative voting base. “There’s a lot of people trying to profit on this, and I don’t think people should,” said Mark Richard. “They’re raising money on it, and you have all these Republican congressmen saying, ‘Come work for me.’ They want to trade on his celebrity, and I think it’s disgusting.”
