One of the men responsible for robbing Love & Hip Hop star Safaree was found guilty of the crime in a Bergen County courtroom on Monday. Safaree was robbed of $180,000 at gunpoint in 2018 and tearfully revealed the encounter in an interview with Angie Martinez.

"I just got robbed, two dudes with guns just ran up on me," Safaree told Martinez hours after the incident. "Had me face down on the floor with a gun to my head. They just took everything."

Surveillance footage showed two men drawing their guns on Safaree and a friend. After the robbers went through Safaree's coat, they made him lie on the ground as they completed the robbery.

Law enforcement arrested Jonathan Ricketts and Shawn Harewood after a high-speed chase. Tacuma Ashman was apprehended weeks later after his driver's license, cellphone, and a red hat he wore during the robbery were found inside the car involved in the high-speed chase. Safaree's wallet and jewelry were also discovered.

Harewood, who's considered the mastermind of the robbery, was Ashman's co-defendant but the judge declared a mistrial for him after his lawyer withdrew from the case. Another suspect, Carl Harry, pleaded guilty to conspiracy in 2019 and a new trial date for Harewood is pending.

Tacuma Ashman has been convicted of first-degree robbery, weapons possession, and resisting arrest. The 43-year-old was acquitted on conspiracy charges and owning a handgun without a permit. He faces up to 50 years behind bars when he appears for sentencing on January 28, 2022.
