Update 11/11/2021 3:52pm:

It was previously reported that 22-year-old Texas A&M senior Bharti Shahani was declared brain dead following injuries she sustained at the Astroworld festival last weekend. This comes after 8 others also died after being injured at the festival, which injured dozens of others.

Bharti went to the festival with her sister Namrata Shahani and her cousin Mohit Bellani, who recounted being separated during the festival. Bellani stated, "Once one person fell, people started toppling like dominos. It was like a sinkhole. People were falling on top of each other. There were like layers of bodies on the ground, like two people thick. We were fighting to come up to the top and breathe to stay alive."

Bharti's father spoke at a press conference, where he stated, "Please make sure that she gets justice. I don't want somebody else's daughter to go like this. I kept hearing the news and all that, but for the last six days, I've not slept."
