According to reports, an Illinois woman is accused of killing and burying her newborn child in hopes of not upsetting her family.
Alvory C. Chavez Ramos, 23 was arrested over the weekend on a charge of first-degree murder for killing her child. Authorities say Ramos gave birth to the child in the family home between Oct 2020 and Nov 2020. She allegedly covered the baby's mouth so her parents wouldn't hear the cries. After the baby stopped moving, she wrapped the body in plastic and buried the child in a hole in the backyard.
The body was found in May and an autopsy determined the cause of death was a homicide caused by asphyxia, A DNA test confirmed Chavez Ramos was the child's mother.
Investigators say Chavez Ramos concealed her pregnancy from her family because “she did not want them to be angry with her.” She is currently being held on a $95,000 bond.
