Too Short issued an apology on Wednesday (October 13) following comments he made that were deemed to be colorist.

The controversy is centered around a 2020 IG Live chat between him and Saweetie, where he told the "My Type" rapper that he'd only fallen in love with mixed women. He stated, "Mixed heritage women have always been my favorite. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with a woman that wasn’t mixed." Too Short then continued, saying, "I feel that way about life too like biracial babies are… you can take the two ugliest people from different races and make a baby and that baby would just be beautiful! It happens all the time!"

After the clip recently started circulating on social media, Too Short apologized, stating, "I'm not really into the whole hatred of 'I hate you because you're light or you're the best because you're dark.' I'm not really into that. I love my blackness… Beauty is in every economic class, every race and you can go find that ugly exactly everywhere too. I would like to apologize to anyone that's offended by my words."
