It apparently didn't take long for Ben Simmons to begin feeling the impact of his holdout, especially financially.

Sources out of Simmons's camp say the 25-year-old is grappling with the "financial significance" of his decision to hold out on the 76ers until he is traded. According to the Philly Voice's Kyle Neubeck, "the financial significance of holding out is starting to take hold in Simmons' camp" after he was fined "roughly $360,000" for not showing up to Monday night's preseason contest.

The same report notes that Simmons's team has already been in contact with the players association who "reiterated they would be unable to recoup the money being deducted from the $8.25 million sitting in escrow, sources say, and it was communicated to the Sixers that these early fines were perhaps higher than they expected."

If Simmons decides to sit out the entire preseason he can forfeit $1.4 million that is virtually unrecoupable.
