Update 09/29/2021 4:33pm:

According to the Jamaica Observer, Jayda Cheaves, the mother of Lil Baby's son, and George Wright,  a member of her entourage, were convicted of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Jamaica.

Both Cheaves and Wright were facing two years in prison for the charges, but they were instead fined $800,000 during a court appearance on Wednesday (September 29). The pair's $500,000 fine for illegal possession of a firearm is $3,367 in U.S. currency, while the $300,000 fine for illegal possession of ammunition is actually $2,020 -- meaning Cheaves and Wright's fine is slightly over $5,000.

Police originally discovered the guns and ammunition while scanning Jada and George's luggage at the airport in Montego Bay, St James. After searching the luggage, a black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with eight 9mm cartridges and a black, grey, and pink SCCY 9mm pistol with seven 9mm cartridges were found. Cheaves and Wright admitted to owning the weapons, but they failed to declare possession of the firearms and ammunition when they arrived in Jamaica.

According to reports, the mother of Lil Baby’s child—Jayda Cheaves, was arrested. The arrest allegedly took place while Cheaves was on vacation in Jamaica to celebrate her 24th birthday.

Cheaves was trying to make her way back to the United States but was reportedly detained by the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Along with that, members of her entourage were detained as well. According to sources from the JCF, Cheaves and her team flew into Jamaica via a private jet, but the guns were detected as the entrepreneur, and her team were on the way out. Two 9mm pistols were found in their possession, which stopped them from leaving Jamaica.

Police sources that spoke to Urban Islands said the weapons found are licensed in the United States. However, they aren’t licensed in “Jamaica which is where the problem arises.”

Since the arrest, Cheaves has been on social media and addressed the matter, saying, “Act normal I’m good for now y’all.” Stay tuned for more updates.
