AJ Johnson's wife revealed to TMZ that the comedian's family is struggling to pay for his funeral service and burial, and has launched a GoFundMe as a result.

Despite the "fake love" she's received since her husband's passing, Lexis Jones Mason claims she's received little financial support in the wake of her loss. She tearfully explained that she launched the GoFundMe with a $20,000 goal but raised only $700 by the time she sat down with TMZ.

"I did the GoFundMe, it's $700 in there. A few of my friends CashApp me and I made that clear. I got like another 400, but no, it's like you said, y'all say y'all love him...where's the love? Y'all not helping," Mason said. "I get the calls or inboxes saying y'all raising money. No, we're raising money because I have to pay for this all out of pocket. I'm asking for help. But if I don't get it, it's fine because I'm not leaving my husband in there."

Mason stated that, despite the lack of assistance, there will be a service for her husband. She added that although the funeral would cost $15,000, she asked for $20,000 to split the extra $5,000 among the late comedian's children. While Mason isn't expecting anyone to help her bury her husband, she's requesting that people stop reaching out with "fake love."

"If you guys wanna give or they wanna give, I would appreciate it. If they don't, that's them," she continued. "But just please stop the fake love. Please stop the fake calls. Please stop the fake texts. Please! Just for our family."

Mason also said that if she can't afford a proper burial, she'll cremate AJ Johnson. Since Mason's interview, the GoFundMe has raised over $24,000.
