Previously, footage surfaced of U.S. Border Patrol agents using whips on Haitian immigrants who were located at the Rio Grande border, trying to attempt to get into the United States. The ugly footage is reminiscent of imagery from slavery and has forced the Biden Administration to address the awful situation.
While speaking to NBC News, White House press secretary Jen Psaki spoke on the matter, saying, “I have seen some of the footage. I don’t have the full context. I can’t imagine what context would make that appropriate, but I don’t have additional details. I don’t think anyone seeing that footage would think it’s acceptable or appropriate.” Psaki continued saying, “It’s obviously horrific, the footage. I don’t have any more information on it, so let me venture to do that and we’ll see if there is more to convey.”
Despite her statement, Psaki didn’t confirm if the Biden Administration would stop plans to send immigrants back to Haiti, saying, “we are constantly assessing circumstances on the ground.” Watch above.
