While Kyrie Irving wasn't a major focus in trade scenarios this off-season, one fascinating scenario that did make its way around the rumor mill was a deal that would land Ben Simmons in Brooklyn in exchange for Irving. However, Kyrie and his agent have "made it clear" that the All-Star point guard will not entertain any trade scenarios.
According to Fox Sports' Nick Wright, Irving's name has come up in a few trade packages to benefit the Brooklyn Nets. However, Kyrie is so adamant about not leaving Brooklyn that his agent informed the Nets that Kyrie would retire instead.
Currently, Kyrie has one more guaranteed season on his contract with a player option for 2022-23 left on the four-year, $136.5 million deal.
In response to Nick Wright's tweet about Irving's retirement threat, the former All-Star Game MVP tweeted a GIF of a puppet, suggesting Wright is one.
