A woman's story has gone viral after revealing she survived 17 shots from the woman her boyfriend was having an affair with.
A health care worker named Nicole Jones said she was seeing her boyfriend for nearly a year when he started cheating on her with another woman. Jones said the woman soon became an issue much larger than the fact that she was having an affair with her boyfriend.
"At the time, I was seeing this guy. Almost a year into our relationship, he began to be unfaithful," Jones said. "The girl my boyfriend was cheating on me with, she became a living nightmare."
Jones claimed the woman would show up at her house when she knew she and her boyfriend were together. Jones also accused her boyfriend was playing both sides by telling the women different tales. She claimed her relationship started to fizzle as she became turned off by the affair and drama.
Last year, Jones was at home relaxing on the couch after arriving home from a Halloween party. While watching the television, she was called by her boyfriend's side chick while she was with him. An argument ensued, which resulted in the woman threatening Jones.
"I got a phone call from the girl. I answered and it was her in the bed with him," she continued. "She had went through his phone that night and seen that me and him were together the day prior. She was very upset. I said, 'You can have him. He's clearly there with you, good luck.' So I hung up the phone and she called me back. She said, 'I'll come shoot up your windows.' I just wrote it off as fight talk. I started to get ready for bed."
Jones said her boyfriend had an old, noisy van that she heard approaching her residence. When she looked out the window, she saw someone dressed in all black. Once she came outside, she realized the driver was the woman her boyfriend had been seeing.
"As I'm walking up, I'm realizing it's the girl," Jones said. "I asked her what was she doing here. She pulls out the gun and I just froze. I just knew she was going to kill me at that moment. She immediately just started shooting."
Jones said she fell to the ground after the first three shots hit her stomach. She was continuously shot in her back and legs and told to "die" as she was face-down on the ground. Her top-floor neighbor heard her screams for help and announced to the shooter she had just called the police. Jones eventually played dead and the woman stopped shooting before fleeing the scene.
Jones described being taken to the hospital where she was placed into a medically-induced coma for four days. When she woke up, she couldn't feel her legs and was told she had been shot 17 times. She also described not having physical support at the hospital due to COVID.
Nicole Jones was told she probably wouldn't walk again, but started walking in rehab within three weeks. Jones broke down her recovery and said she currently uses a walker to get around. She also went through a deep depression and had suicidal thoughts every day, due to the "unbearable" pain.
Jones added that the van was stolen from her boyfriend while he was sleep and he felt terrible about what had happened to her. However, she said once he was assured that she was alive and well, "he went back to his old ways."
The shooter was caught within an hour of Jones providing the police with her name and is currently awaiting trial.
