Bishop Sycamore, the Ohio school that was exposed for allegedly tricking ESPN into airing its lopsided football game, fired head coach Roy Johnson on Tuesday.

Johnson's dismissal came the same day as Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's request for an investigation into Bishop Sycamore after much of the school's information could not be verified. The school's director, Andre Peterson, claimed Johnson's fraud charges and the team's injury protocols were the main reasons the coach was let go.

"I value him as a person, but I just thought right now he needed to step down, he needed to go," Peterson said. "We just decided to mutually part ways."

Johnson reportedly faces an active bench warrant out of Delaware, Ohio, for failure to appear in court. The case was related to a domestic violence charge that later was dropped to criminal mischief. Last Friday, a judge ruled that Johnson and another defendant will face charges for allegedly defaulting on a $100,000 loan issued by First Merchants Bank in April 2018.

Despite making national news for being heavily outmatched by defending national champions, IMG Academy, Bishop Sycamore is still scheduled to play powerhouse programs Duncanville (Kentucky) and St. Thomas More (Connecticut) this season.
