The rise of Grime music worldwide has seen the likes of Wiley, Skepta, and more at the forefront, creating a new wave. Another key contributor in the early stages of grime was rapper Dizzee Rascal. His 2003 ‘Boy In Da Corner’ album sparked off a surge in artists moving into the grime space. Now, news surfaced noting that the U.K. rapper was charged with assault following a domestic argument that left a woman with minor injuries.
According to reports, Dizzee—real name Dylan Mills, got into an incident at a residential home with a woman on June 8. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement saying, “Dylan Mills, 36, of Sevenoaks, Kent, has been charged with assault after an incident at a residential address in Streatham on 8 June. Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. She did not require hospital treatment.”
As of now, Dizzee Rascal is currently out of jail on bail. He is set to appear in Croydon Magistrates Court on September 3.
