A Louisiana father was reportedly shot and killed by his 14-year-old daughter's 17-year-old boyfriend after he confronted the teen boy for sneaking into his home Sunday morning.

According to Police Chief David McDavid, 34-year-old Dezmon Hamilton exchanged gunfire with Nicholas Mcquirter at 8 a.m. The 17-year-old had reportedly used a ladder to enter through a second-story window to see Hamilton's 14-year-old daughter. When Hamilton caught Mcquirter in his home, a confrontation and shootout ensued.

As a result of the shooting, Hamilton died from multiple gunshot wounds. Mcquirter was also wounded and taken to a hospital. Mcquirter's relationship with Hamilton's daughter had been an ongoing issue for the family as the father tried to prevent his daughter from seeing Mcquirter multiple times.

While police are still unsure who fired their weapon first, Mcquirter has been charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
