Rapper KTS Dre was fatally shot 64 times as he was released from jail on Saturday night in an ambush that killed two others.

Police reportedly found dozens of shell casings across the street from the Cook County Jail. The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name was Londre Sylvester, was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital after suffering gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of his body.

KTS Dre had just been released from jail and was walking to an awaiting vehicle when his attackers exited two separate vehicles and began shooting at him. After murdering the rapper, the shooters re-entered their vehicles and fled in different directions. Police plan on reviewing nearby surveillance footage for evidence.

The late rapper had been in custody since late June for violating the conditions of his release in a 2020 felony gun case. KTS Dre had been held on $50,000 and posted the required $5,000 on Friday.

Two women were also injured during the attack. A 60-year-old woman who was with KTS Dre was shot in the knee, while a 30-year-old woman was grazed in the mouth as she was walking. Both victims were listed in good condition after receiving hospital treatment.
