Motorcycle daredevil Alex Harvill is dead after crashing during a practice run for his world record jump attempt.

Harvill, 28, practiced at the Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Washington, when he crashed his bike. The record-setting jump was set to occur at the Moses Lake Airshow on Thursday, but Harvill sustained the fatal injuries during warmups. The jump was attempting to break Robbie Maddison's record set at 351 feet in March 2008.

"We regret to report today at our first event of the airshow -- the Guinness World Record Jump Attempt, Alex Harvill was injured during his warm-up before the jump and has been taken to the hospital," the Moses Lake Airshow said in a statement. "We do not have more information at this time regarding the incident."
