According to The Athletic, Chris Paul has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and as a result, will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.

It's unclear why Paul was placed in the league’s COVID-19 protocols, and his length of time in isolation will depend on whether he is vaccinated against COVID-19. Paul previously called the decision to get vaccinated a "personal" one. Examples have varied across the league with other players experiencing the same situation, with some players missing multiple weeks after positive COVID-19 tests, while others have missed short amounts of time for things like contact tracing investigations.

Paul's availability for the Western Conference finals is currently in jeopardy, as the Suns await the winner of the Jazz-Clippers second-round series. A schedule hasn't been set for the finals, but if a Game 7 is needed in the Jazz-Clippers series, which is tied 2-2, it will be played on Sunday.

More details to come.
