Former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Jay Williams claimed to have inside knowledge as to why Kevin Durant has performed at such a high level during the first two games of the Brooklyn Nets' semi-final matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.

During Tuesday's episode of ESPN's Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin, Williams claimed that Durant has taken his matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo personally due to the comparisons between the two MVP winners. To further prove his point, Williams recalled an encounter in which Durant approached him after he compared Durant to Giannis and Anthony Davis.

"KD comes up to me at the club and says, 'Yo, don't you ever compare me to Giannis again," Williams claimed. "He's like, 'Nah, don't ever compare that dude to me! Don't do it!' I felt that in his voice in that moment that when this match-up came up, I'm like, 'Ah, this is a proven moment for Kevin to show everybody he's not on the same page as me.'"

Once clips of the segment started circulating across social media, Durant dismissed Williams' story as a lie. The NBA superstar issued his first response in the comments section of an Instagram post reporting the story and said the ESPN analyst could not speak for him.

"This is a F***** lie," Durant wrote. "Jay Williams can NEVER speak for me, ever…"

Soon after, Durant followed up his initial response with a longer statement on Twitter. Without mentioning Williams' name, he accused the former Duke star of lying in order to advance his media career.

"Mans will do anything to advance their careers in this media s***, wanting to be accepted by an industry that will dispose of you whenever they please," Durant added. "Keep me out all that corny a** talk about whos better and legacy and all that dumb a** s***. I don't even talk like that."
