He explained that he started interviewing the family members of Gavin Arvizo, who Jackson was accused of abusing. Ross stated that he interviewed Gavin's father first, and he learned new information about Gavin's mother, who was separated from the father at the time. The more Ross looked into Gavin's mother, he found that she was a "liar and a grifter," including hustling money from various people to pay for Gavin's cancer treatment.
