Former friends-turned-enemies Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya traded jabs on Instagram, which resulted in Alvarez telling De La Hoya, "Do me a [favor] and go f*** yourself."

Things soured between the two after Alvarez split from De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions in 2020, which led to Alvarez suing De La Hoya and eventually securing his free agency and an out-of-court settlement at the end of 2020.

Before his fight against Billy Joe Saunders last month, Alvarez took shots at De La Hoya in a surprise interview, where he stated that De La Hoya had "no loyalty" and is more "worried about drinking." De La Hoya then reignited things by commenting on a recent video of Alvarez giving a young boxer training tips. He commented on the video, writing, "Please, this guy does everything wrong. Head up when he throws hooks. On his heels, flat-footed. What else? Oh, he avoids Charlo," referring to current WBC middleweight champion and twin brother of Jermell in Jermall Charlo.

Canelo then told De La Hoya, "Oh really? You want me to talk? F***ing traitor. Do me a favour and go f*** yourself."
