According to reports, a Black woman in Michigan was fined $385 for talking too loudly on her cell phone, and the woman believes she was fined due to her race.

Diamond Robinson spoke to the news and noted that she was walking up and down her block this past Thursday when she was approached by her neighbor, who asked Robinson, “Do you think that you can get off your phone or talk lower?”

Robinson went on to say, “One of those things she said. And I said, ‘Get out of my face,’ and I proceeded to walk past her. She is saying whatever she is saying. Three minutes later, Eastpointe police pulls up.” From there, Robinson started to film the entire ordeal on Facebook Live and told the cops, “I hope you know this is all being recorded.” The cops continued to write the ticket despite her filming.

Robinson noted she believes she was targeted because she’s Black, saying, “There’s no way police should be called on me when I am on my own property, in my own neighborhood, on my own block.” It was noted that the white woman who called the cops on her just moved into the neighborhood weeks prior. As of now, the woman is planning on fighting the ticket, as well as getting security cameras placed outside of her home.
