According to reports, U.S. Marshals, in collaboration with Oklahoma City police, have captured a man who evaded capture for six years on an attempted murder charge by allegedly faking his death.

The U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force and officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team apprehended Christopher Tomberlin.

Tomberlin was reportedly on the run for attempting to murder his then-girlfriend during a November 2015 incident. Following the altercation, Tomberlin faced charges of aggravated assault, battery, and terroristic threats. Tomberlin subsequently went on the run but was found in Oklahoma after new information surfaced indicating that he was still alive.

“Analysts from our Criminal Intelligence Unit worked diligently, and were able to piece together Tomberlin’s latest steps, leading officers to the area of SW 77th and Douglas where today, he was taken into custody without incident,” the Oklahoma City Police Department said in a statement.
