Stephen A. Smith originally decided against responding to Kwame Brown after the former NBA player threatened to slap him while calling out his various critics throughout the years. However, a series of subsequent posts from Brown caused the ESPN commentator to fire back on his ESPN+ show, Stephen A's World.

The First Take host called out Brown for his personal attacks and clarified that he, Gilbert Arenas, Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes, Charlamagne tha God, and others never talked about him personally but simply criticized his performance in the NBA.

"The only thing anybody ever said about Kwame Brown is that he couldn't play a lick of basketball. Newsflash! That wasn't a lie," Stephen A. said before displaying a highlight reel of Brown's bloopers throughout his NBA career. "Thirteen years in the NBA, seven different teams! And I've got an unlimited bank of bloopers for every stop along the way. That was just a short version. I got 15 minutes, I just showed you one."

Stephen A. continued by highlighting that Kwame Brown made nearly $64 million while averaging under seven points per game during his NBA career. He added that Brown's career point average is the lowest for a number one pick in the last 49 years.
