Amy Cooper, the white woman who went viral in May 2020 for calling the cops on a Black man after he asked her to put her dog on a leash in Central Park, is now suing her former employer for racial discrimination.

In her lawsuit, Amy labeled her ex-employer, investment firm Franklin Templeton, as "racist" and said the firm lied about conducting an investigation into the Central Park incident prior to her firing. She claimed she called the cops on Christian Cooper because he had a history of "aggressively confronting" dog owners who didn't put their pets on a leash.

"Franklin Templeton would have known that if [they] had performed the investigation it told the public it had conducted," her lawsuit read. "Franklin Templeton would have conducted a proper investigation before firing her if she was of a different race or a different gender."

Amy added that the consequences of the incident have left her in emotional distress as her "personal and professional life has been destroyed."

Franklin Templeton responded to Amy's lawsuit by writing in an email, "We believe the circumstances of the situation speak for themselves and that the Company responded appropriately. We will defend against these baseless claims."

This past February, charges against Amy Cooper were dropped after she completed racial bias classes. She is seeking unspecified damages for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and racial discrimination.
