George Floyd's family met with President Joe Biden and key lawmakers involved in policing reform negotiations on the 1-year anniversary of his death.

Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, family attorney Benjamin Crump, and rapper Lil Baby were seen standing together outside of the White House with other family members following the meeting. Philonise told reporters the family had a "great" meeting with the President and vice president and while speaking about Biden, he stated, "He's a genuine guy. They always speak from the heart."

Philonise added, "We're just thankful for what's going on and we just want the George Floyd Policing Act to be passed. If you can make federal laws to protect the bird, which is the bald eagle, you can make federal laws to protect people of color."

Philonise is referring to the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which would establish a national registry of police misconduct, ban racial and religious profiling by law enforcement and overhaul qualified immunity for police officers. It currently remains stalled in the Senate. You can hear more of what Floyd's family had to say above.
