LaMelo Ball has put together a stellar rookie campaign for the Charlotte Hornets, largely exceeding the expectations of many. If not for a wrist fracture that kept him out for several weeks, Ball could have been a unanimous or virtually unanimous Rookie of the Year award winner.

Considering his output on the floor, it should come as no surprise that LaMelo is pretty confident in his abilities. However, the 19-year-old raised a few eyebrows when asked when he felt he could've "reasonably competed" in the league.

"Reasonably competed? I would say, my thought process, I was 14 at the time when I thought I could have been," Ball told Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times.

For context, LaMelo was a freshman at Chino Hills High at 14, where he averaged 16.4 points and 3.8 assists, per ESPN.
