Update 05/06/2021 6:11pm:

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn expressed his belief that Buffalo State College student and daughter of rapper 40 Cal, Saniyya Dennis, committed suicide during a press conference updating media on the student's disappearance.

"It appears this poor girl took her own life," Flynn said during the conference.

Flynn said the 19-year-old was last seen leaving her dorm on April 24 after an argument with her boyfriend that resulted in him breaking up with her. Dennis reportedly tried contacting her ex 66 times and revealed her suicidal thoughts.

Flynn claimed she also expressed these thoughts in another conversation with a friend during a four-hour conversation. While speaking with the friend, Dennis said she was feeling better and reconsidering her suicidal thoughts.

However, Dennis threw away "personal items that would lead someone to believe that she was not returning to the dorm." She took two buses with the final one stopping near the Niagara Falls Visitor Center. She texted her mother and friend around midnight and told the friend she would not see him this summer.

She called her friend after he threatened to call the police and during their 45-minute phone conversation, she said she was going to jump off of a bridge. After a 1 A.M Snapchat post that showed Niagra Falls in the background, Dennis texted her friend and said she was headed back to Buffalo but phone records dispute the claim.

Minutes after the text was sent, her phone left the cellular network, leading investigators to believe it was either powered off or destroyed.

Law enforcement will continue to search for Dennis, but Flynn warned that her body may not be found. Dennis' boyfriend was in New York City and is not considered a suspect in her disappearance.
