New surveillance footage captured the moment a gunman shot into an SUV on the Upper East Side and killed the 20-year-old driver.
The 20-year-old victim, identified as Chris Delinois, was fatally wounded in the stomach while behind the wheel of a Honda HRV. No motive was mentioned for the shooting, but the video shows the suspect enter the rear driver's side seat before the clip cuts to an individual fleeing from the open trunk.
Afterward, the gunman exits the vehicle and fires his handgun at the car, and wounds the driver. The suspect tries to enter the car again as the victim attempts to drive away and sideswipes a parked car before the clip cuts to the shooting suspect fleeing the scene.
Delinois died from his injuries after he was rushed to the hospital. The Upper East Side shooting comes one day after New York recorded its worst week of shootings in 2021.
