According to reports, a North Carolina deputy fatally shot a 40-year-old black man while executing an arrest warrant. 

Elizabeth City authorities confirmed that a deputy shot and killed  Andrew Brown Jr. during a search warrant but did not divulge many other details. There is currently no word on why the search warrant was initially issued, and the officer who shot Brown hasn't had their identity disclosed. 

Witnesses told local reporters that authorities shot at Brown while driving away in his car as deputies conducted their search. At least six to eight shots were fired at Brown while he was still in the car. Brown's family told news outlets that the 40-year-old was unarmed.
