John was taken aback when Vlad recalled reading a story of the abuse DMX suffered at the hands of his mother as a child, leading him to leave home at an early age and sleep on the street. Despite his early hardships, DMX went on to have a successful music career, including being one of the first hip-hop artists to go multi-platinum, which you can hear more about in the above clip.
