Hubert Davis sat down for a press conference this week to speak about being the new head basketball coach at the University of North Carolina, and also the first Black head coach at the college.

When asked about making history as the first Black head coach, Hubert said that he's proud of the achievement, and he raised eyebrows by stating that he's also proud to have a white wife.

Hurbert stated, "It’s significant that I’m African-American and I’m the head coach here. It’s significant." He adds that only 26% of Division I men's basketball head coaches are minorities, specifically African-American. Hubert also acknowledges that he’s the fourth African-American coach of any sport at UNC. He then adds, "I'm also very proud that my wife is white, and I'm very proud that my three beautiful, unbelievable kids are a combination of both of us."
