Part 2: LA Reid: Prince Told Me Selling LaFace to Arista was Huge Mistake

LA Reid joined DJ Greg Street for an interview detailing his storied journey and career in music. The interview started with the music executive explaining how he and Babyface joined forces as members of the band, The Deele. After the band recorded their demo, they eventually signed a record deal with SOLAR Records. Reid praised the label's founder, Dick Griffey, and compared him to Berry Gordy. Later on, LA Reid explained his and Babyface's decision to move to Atlanta after finding success writing and producing for other acts.
The music executive also explained that he was motivated by money and not opportunity during his career. After listing the numerous behind-the-scenes jobs in the music industry, he reacted to the violence in Hip Hop especially in Atlanta. He also revealed his personal standout album during LaFace's 90s run and described how he signed TLC after a humbling conversation with Clive Davis.
