The legalization of marijuana has found many states falling into line with the plan, and areas in North America like Canada have already made the jump. Now, it has been revealed that Mexico’s Congress has approved a bill for the legalization of marijuana.
A lawmaker named Simey Olvera from the Morena party said, “Today we are in a historic moment. With this, the false belief that cannabis is part of Mexico’s serious public health problems is left behind.” The statement is in reference to a campaign the United States previously led that insinuated Mexicans were tied to negative cannabis use.
It was noted that the bill is currently on its way to the Mexican Senate for revisions. If the law gets passed, this will allow the sale, cultivation, export, and import of cannabis in the country. Along with that, citizens would be able to carry up to 28 grams and would be able to grow up to six plants for personal usage, as long as they are 18 and over.
