According to reports, a Chicago man was arrested recently after asking cops for direction while driving a stolen vehicle.

Lafayette Moore, 35, is charged with motor vehicle theft after stealing a car in a suburb outside of Chicago. Moore then asked officers for directions just minutes after the alleged theft.

Authorities say a car was reported stolen around 4:18 PM on Friday at a BP Amoco gas station. The car's owner said it was left unlocked and running while he went inside to buy something. When the owner returned, Moore had taken the vehicle.

An officer was investigating a crash in the area near the gas station when Moore pulled alongside him, inquiring about directions. The officer gave Moore directions and realized soon after that the car Moore was in fit the description of the vehicle stolen from the gas station.

After tracking Moore down, he was arrested without incident and is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
