Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, has married Seattle school teacher Dan Jewett, according to a post on the website for The Giving Pledge. Jewett, a teacher for decades, most recently taught chemistry at the private Lakeside School, where Scott's children attended.
Jewett authored the post, where he spoke about his and MacKenzie's pledge to give away a bulk of their wealth to charity. He wrote, "In a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know – and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others. I look forward to the growth and learning I have ahead as a part of this undertaking with MacKenzie."
Scott and Bezos divorced in 2019 after 25 years of marriage. The settlement made MacKenzie one of the richest people on earth after receiving a quarter of Bezos' Amazon (AMZN) shares. According to Forbes, she has a net worth of $53 billion, and she has been donating billions to charity. In December, she donated $4.2 billion to 384 organizations.
According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy's annual rankings, Scott was listed as No. 2 among the 50 Americans who gave the most to charity last year. Her ex-husband, Jeff Bezos, topped the list by donating $10 billion to launch the Bezos Earth Fund.
