Update 02/12/2021 10:13am:

Chapelle's Show is returning to Netflix after being taken down at the request of Dave Chappelle in November 2020. Chappelle revealed in an 18-minute video titled "Unforgiven" that he didn't get royalties from his hit show after he left, per his contract. Chappelle told viewers, "If you are streaming that show, you're fencing stolen goods. They stole that from me. They just took it. This f**king industry is a monster."

Chappelle uploaded another clip to his Instagram on Thursday (February 11), where he thanked fans for boycotting the show. He also revealed that he was able to get ownership of the show back, along with licensing, and Dave revealed he was paid millions.

"I asked you to stop watching the show and thank God almighty for you, you did. You made that show worthless because without your eyes it’s nothing. And when you stopped watching it, they called me. And I got my name back and I got my license back and I got my show back and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much."

Netflix removed "Chappelle's Show" from the streaming service at his request, and he explained why with a video posted to Instagram from his stand-up set.

In the 18-minute video titled "Unforgiven," Dave started out telling a story of an older comedian "borrowing" a joke from him when he was 15 and then intimidating him when Dave asked to get his joke back. After the story, Dave told the audience, "I don't think about it every day because that was the worst thing that happened to me. I think about it every day because that was the first time someone ever did that to me. But in my career, it has happened many, many times since."

Dave went on to share stories about money and deception, and he spoke about Netflix and HBO Max's announcement about streaming the Chappelle's Show. He explained that he got the news the day before he was supposed to host Saturday Night Live, and Dave revealed that HBO rudely turned down his pitch for the show before he took it to Comedy Central. Dave then stated that he didn't get royalties from his hit show after he left, per his contract.

Dave then stated, "If you are streaming that show, you're fencing stolen goods. They stole that from me. They just took it. This f**king industry is a monster."
