According to reports, a Miami Beach man has avoided charges in the 2018 shooting of a car thief at a Miami car wash. New surveillance footage shows the man fire two shots into the window of his boss's Mercedes Benz G-Wagon just before the mortally wounded thief crashed into a wall across the street.

Stephen Allen Lott was cleared of any wrongdoing due to Florida's infamous Stand Your Ground Law. By firing those shots at Jose Antonio Reyes Bermudez as he tried boosting the G-Wagon, prosecutors concluded that Lott “had the legal right to stand his ground and use deadly force to protect himself from death or great bodily harm while Mr. Reyes Bermudez was committing and escaping from committing a forcible felony.”
