Sean "Diddy" Combs has filed a $25 million lawsuit against Sean John and the company's owner GBG USA.

The complaint says Sean John launched a women's clothing line with another company called Missguided and illegally used the Hip Hop mogul's image, likeness, and persona without his permission. Diddy claims the companies fabricated statements that he never made and led the public to believe that he was still associated with the brand he founded in 1998. Combs also took issue with his image being featured in a 40-second ad campaign promoting the Sean John x Missguided collection.

"[Diddy] does not challenge [Sean John/GBG’s] right to use the Sean John trademark, but rather [Sean John/GBG's] decision to leverage a fabricated quote they created and then falsely attributed to Mr. Combs, and to use Mr. Combs's name and other monikers to create the false and misleading impression that Mr. Combs is the decision-maker behind the designs and creation of the GBG Collection," said Diddy's lawyer, Jonathan D. Davis.

Davis added that Sean John, GBG, and Missguided have misled the public in this manner "because they understand that associating it with Mr. Combs will significantly increase sales and profits."

Diddy's lawsuit is yet another legal issue between himself and Sean John. It was recently reported that he's battling the brand over the trademark for "Vote Or Die." He claims Sean John and GBG illegally took the phrase, trademarked it, and started selling merchandise on the brand's website during the 2020 election.
